Clinical Procedures

Below are some descriptions of the clinical procedures we carry out

Embryoscopes

The introduction of an Embryoscope™ time-lapse system allows us to monitor the developing embryos throughout the full course of their development without removing them from a stable incubated environment. The integrated camera and microscope automatically takes an image of your embryos every 10 minutes to produce a time-lapse video of the vital stages of development enabling enhanced assessment by our team.

This detailed development information allows us to identify only the best quality embryos for a future transfer procedure.

When we have identified the best embryos using our specialised embryoscope selection algorithm, we would select one or two embryos for transfer. In the event your embryos are going to be frozen we shall use this vital information when ‘warming’ them and as a priority we would first select the best embryos to thaw for a potential embryo transfer.

PRE-IMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS (PGD)

Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis is used alongside in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycle for couples who have a known inherited disease in their family, such that they can avoid passing on the genetically transmitted condition to their child and future generations. In some instances, neither prospective parent may be aware of a condition as they may simply be a carrier. PGD involves checking the genes or chromosomes of your embryos for a specific genetic condition ensuring that only embryos that are not at risk of developing the known disorder are identified for implantation.

Natural cycle IVF

Natural cycle IVF (in vitro fertilisation) simply means the of collection and fertilization of the one egg (a single oocyte) that a woman releases during her normal monthly menstruation cycle.

Assisted Hatching

In order for an embryo to implant onto the lining of the uterus it must ‘hatch’ out of its shell called the Zona Pellucida. Assisted Hatching has been shown to improve the pregnancy rate in certain categories of patients.

Androcare has adopted a policy to carry out this procedure when it is considered to be in the patient’s best interests. Should we deem it necessary to perform Assisted Hatching procedure on your embryos, this will be discussed with you at length before we proceed.

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

If you have undertaken a previous IVF cycle of medication, egg collection and fertilization of embryos for transfer, you will have been advised of the availability of any additional good quality embryos that you may have requested be frozen in preparation for any subsequent treatment. Your embryos will be cryopreserved (frozen) and stored on site at our clinic.

We are always here to provide you with a world-class fertility treatments.
